Cats Tuesday: New Haven Stray Cats

I went to visit my daughter, Anna, in New Haven, Connecticut the past four days (I came home Sunday). I am now sick so I won't be working tomorrow but I may be slow in visiting you. Please be patient.

Two strays sleep in her garden overnight. The photo above was taken with zoom from Anna's second story window. The black and white cat is female, two years old, has had two litters of kittens, none of which survived. The neighborhood has tried to trap her but has been unsuccessful.

The little female is very attached to this new male. The neighborhood is trying to care for any strays it can care for. People adopt as many of the cats as they can.

Two more strays seen in the afternoon across the street. What is encouraging is that they all seem to be eating.

This is the male that was sleeping in Anna's garden overnight. He was asleep in the neighbor's yard in the afternoon sun.

This cat had just caught a bird and was racing over the fence with his catch.

Thank you so much for visiting. I hope you all have a wonderful week.

  1. My heart is always bleeding when I hear about stray cats. But these once look good and well fed. Probably the whole neighborhood is feeding them. But to catch one if she is really wild is very difficult. Fortunately where I live there are only happy cats around all spoiled and very well taken care of. But in other parts of Waterloo it isn't the case. They catch them with special cages, volonteer young vets spay them and then they are set free again. At least this avoids kitties ! Feeding is no problem there are many old ladies doing this !

  2. There were a couple of cute strays that would hang outside of work, and sometimes they'd run in, and it was my official duty to carry them out. They were so cute and friendly.

Two families adopted my kitty friends, and I miss our rendezvous in the mornings.

  3. What beautiful cats!
They look happy and well fed.
We have several strays in our town many of us feed them and assisit in trapping them for the spay neauter program.
    Lots have been adopted too.

I hope you feel better soon.
Your photo's this week are amazing!
I had a wonderful time catching up on your blog!

  4. That is a lot of strays. They are all so beautiful. I am glad the neighborhood is trying to care for them.

  5. Oh so many stray cats. But they are so beautiful. I´m also glad you care to them.
We have here also many stray cats. I always would like to catch them to sterilize , that they don´t multiply anymore.
Hope you get well soon :-)

  6. They look like they are in great shape for being strays. It is nice that the neighborhood takes care of them. I hope they can catch the female and have her spayed at least. They are gorgeous cats.

Sorry you are sick. I hope you feel better soon.

  7. It makes me happy when people are kind to stray cats!

  8. First, I hope you feel better soon.

I feel so sorry for those little cats. Poor things there are so many of them but they are such pretty cats. Who would think they are strays? They look so healthy! Great pictures btw.

  9. Mieew, it might be my bad english knowledge - but what the ---- is going on around where you live?

  10. I didn't actually participate in theis weeks COT, but thanks for stopping by and reading my story.

These ferals look well fed, clean and healthy. That's a plus. It's a heart wrenching pity, but at least there are people out there that can and do try to care for the stray kitties.

  11. What beautiful cats and how lovely that the neighbourhood is banding together to care for them. I hate the idea of cats not having a loving home to go to.

However those cats look very healthy and well fed. Good for you and your caring neighbours!

I do hope you feel better soon. Take care.

  12. i love these photos, especially the ones of mickey (that's the female) sleeping with the male. i will share them with the downstairs neighbors because they love her and have been trying to get her for the longest.
