I subscribe to the Photojojo! newsletter and read about different ways to do macrophotography. I'm too poor to buy an expensive macro lens for my Canon so I bought macro filters in Connecticut when I visited Anna and Aaron in October. Photojojo! said they can be bought for under $20. Nope: mine were $60! Aaron told me about the drawbacks of filters (poor focus is the big problem) but I bought them anyway. My first project was photographing walnuts that Amy was using in her cookies. I liked the result. But of course I failed to take notes so I have no idea which filters I used on this photo. And if I had re-read the article about aperture size and tripods before I took the photos, I am sure I could've done better.
